The Kano State House of Assembly has released the names of lawmakers who have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, reaffirming their loyalty to his administration.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Assembly said the lawmakers formally resigned their membership of the NNPP in solidarity with the governor and are awaiting further political directives.
The statement listed the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore (Rogo), and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Bello Butu Butu (Tofa/Rimin Gado), among those who defected. Others include the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Hussain (Dala), and the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Garba Shehu Fammar (Kibiya).
Also on the list are the Chief Whip, Hon. Muddasir Ibrahim Zawachiki (Kumbotso); Majority Whip, Hon. Zakariyya Abdullahi Nuhu (Gabasawa); Hon. Lawal Tini (Ajingi); Hon. Musa Tahir Haruna (Albasu); and Hon. Ali Lawan Alhassan (Bagwai/Shanono).
Further names include Hon. Ali Muhammad Tiga (Bebeji), Hon. Hafiz Gambo (Bunkure), Hon. Rabiu Shuaibu (Dawakin Kudu), Hon. Tukur Mohammed (Fagge), Hon. Murtala Muhammad Kadage (Garko), Hon. Abdulmajid Isah Umar (Gwale), Hon. Engr. Ahmad Ibrahim (Karaye), Hon. Alhassan Zakari (Kura/Garun Malam) and Hon. Suleiman Mukhtar Ishaq (Madobi).
Others are Hon. Abdulhamid Abdul (Minjibir), Hon. Muhammad Ibrahim (Rano), Hon. Kabiru Sule Dahiru (Tarauni) and Hon. Ali Abdullahi Manager (Wudil).
According to the statement, a total of 22 members of the House were involved in the defection, reflecting what it described as their collective resolve to support Governor Yusuf’s administration in advancing the development agenda of Kano State.
