Kano State Government has commenced the distribution exercise books and free School Uniform to 28,239 Pupils in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
Launching the Programme at Tudun Murtala Special Primary School, Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna revealed that the gesture was part of the present administration’s commitment to ensure the successful implementation of its free and compulsory basic and secondary education policy in the State.
Dr. Nasiru Gawuna represented by the Permanent Secretary office of the Deputy Governor Alhaji Tijjani Ahmed Abba disclosed that 631 pupils would be given the Uniform at Tudun Murtala Special Primary School alone, adding that out of these beneficiaries, 384 are boys while 247 are Girls.
The Deputy Governor maintained that government had spent huge amount of money to make sure that all the beneficiaries are given the privilege to have the new school uniform.
Dr. Gawuna, therefore, called on parents in the area to continue to enrol their children to schools as the state government is committed to actualize its policy on free and compulsory basic and secondary education in the State.
Earlier, the Chairman Nasarawa Local Government Area Dr. Lamin Sani said Nasarawa Local Government Council had made every effort to ensure proper implementation of free and compulsory education policy across the 33 conventional Schools and 248 advanced Islamiyya primary schools.
Lamin explained that the Local Government Council had a total number of 268,500 Children in Primary Schools while the Pupils enrolment for the 2019 -2020 academic year, according to the Chairman, reached about 28,239 Pupils in which 14,236 are boys while 13,983 are Girls.
He further expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Kano State Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the implementation of the policy of free and compulsory education in the State in which Nasarawa Local Government is inclusive.
In his remarks, the District Head of Nassarawa Local Government Area Chiroman Kano, Alhaji Nasiru Ado represented by the Head of Dakata Area Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim described the programme as one of the best aimed at supporting the education of children across the State.
