Kano Governor Approves Dismissal of Two Aides Over Drug Baron Bail, Palliative Diversion

By Jabiru Hassan

The Kano State Government, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate dismissal of two Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) after investigative committees found them guilty of misconduct in separate cases.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

The Governor sacked Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, after a special investigative committee indicted him as the mastermind behind the controversial bail of a drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu. The committee confirmed his culpability based on his own testimony.

According to a letter dated Friday, 8 August 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Sharada was ordered to hand over all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs, Office of the SSG, on or before the close of work on Monday, 11 August 2025. He was also warned against presenting himself as a public officer under the current administration.

Similarly, the Governor dismissed Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, following his arrest for rebagging palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada in 2024. Roba has since been arraigned in court and is facing charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly diverting public assets.

He was also directed to return all government property in his possession, including his identity card, by Monday, 11 August 2025, and warned against posing as a government official.

In a related development, the state government cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of all allegations after an investigative committee affirmed his innocence.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, warning public officials to maintain the highest standards of integrity in both their official and private conduct.

The statement advised members of the public not to engage the dismissed appointees on any matter related to the Kano State Government, stressing that anyone who does so does it at their own risk.
