Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has launched a youth empowerment initiative, disbursing N70 million to support 700 young people from the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.
At the launch event held on Friday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, the governor, represented by Deputy Governor Umar Abubakar-Tafida, announced that each selected beneficiary would receive a N100,000 grant. The funds are intended to help recipients start businesses, enabling them to achieve financial independence and potentially create employment opportunities for others.
Governor Idris emphasized that the programme is inclusive, designed to benefit both male and female youths to ensure equal opportunity.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to improve their lives and support others in the future.
State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nura Bala-Fingila, praised Governor Idris for initiating a programme aimed at positively impacting the state’s youth. Describing it as a “game changer,” he encouraged recipients to use the grant to enhance their livelihoods and called on the people of Kebbi to support the administration’s policies and initiatives.
