Activities is being crippled in kano due to the ongoing strike action by the commercial tricycles riders which commenced today Monday, where the association of the tricycle operators directed their members across the state to stay at home indefinitely.

The association distributed letters to the members directing them to stay at home since last Friday in which they accused the kano road traffic agency known as KAROTA members of harassing the tricycle operators and extorting higher amount of money despites what they paid regularly as revenue to the state government.

Our correspondent who monitored how the strike is affecting business activities in kano metropolitan, gathered that the people of all categories were left stranded while others trekked to their places of works especially students and many civil servants who had no means of acquiring private mobility.

A staff of the road traffic agency who pleaded anonymity told Daybreak news that ” it is true that some of our people extort from the tricycles operators unnecessarily which forced them to embark on strike in order to ensure that excellent resolution is done between the agency and the operators, we hope that all would be well tomorrow Tuesday”. He stressed.

Similarly, a government official who also pleaded that his name should not be mentioned told our correspondent that it is the time for kano state government to reduce the number of tricycle operators because they are too many while some of them specialized in criminal activities like what is being seen everyday.
