Operatives of Kaduna Police Command attached to the Commissioner of Police monitoring unit have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered AK 47 rifle in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan in a statement, explained that the suspect was arrested on February 12, 2024 at 1300 hours or thereabout, while the operatives acted on a credible intel and swiftly moved into action.

“The said suspect ,a certain 35 years old Adamu Shuaibu of Dumale village in Kagarko L.G.A. of Kaduna is a member of bandits’ group terrorising villages within and around Jere .An AK47 rifle was recovered from the suspected kidnapper.”

“Meanwhile, discreet investigation is still ongoing as concerted efforts are been made in order to arrest the other members of his gang. Thereafter, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”

“The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, CP A.D Ali, psc applauds the Operatives of the monitoring unit and reiterates his stand.on denying criminal elements in the state of any operating space.”

” He equally solicited for maximum support in terms of credible information from members of the public on suspicious characters in their area for prompt response,” the police added.

Meanwhile, residents of Kalaye Road in Hayin Banki community of Kaduna North Local Government Area, have expressed fear over the influx of strange individuals in the community, who were seen mostly in the morning and night on commercial motorcycles.

A resident who craved anonymity, said the strangers, who appeared to be between the age of 18 and 25, were occupying a building that was recently vacated by a village chieftain who had since moved to his state of origin.

” Apart from the strange commercial motorcycle operatives , the place is always besieged by a youth group who smoke Indian hemp openly and chant slogans that frightened peace loving neighbours,” he said.

According to him, the matter was reported to the Village Head but no concrete step was taken to restore peace and harmony in the area, even as the local vigilante group has been doing its best in the locality.
