In a distressing development, the wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir were among ten individuals kidnapped on Thursday in Kaduna. The family had arrived in Kaduna earlier that day for a holiday when they were seized by armed gunmen in a suburb of the city.

Bashir, a correspondent for Nigeria Telegraph, shared the news with his colleagues in Lokoja on Friday, expressing his anguish and requesting prayers for the safety of his loved ones. In a heartfelt message posted on the Kogi Correspondent Chapel WhatsApp platform, he wrote, “My dear colleagues, please I need your prayers. My two daughters and their mother, along with eight others, were abducted yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna. Please pray for us.”

He also reported that he has reached out to both the police and the Department of State Services, who have assured him that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.

Further details are expected to be released as the situation develops.
