Lalong Picks Senate Nomination Form as Supporters Highlight Record of Public Service

Former Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, has obtained the nomination form to contest for a second term as Senator representing Plateau South. The development has drawn reactions from supporters, who cite his experience in legislative and executive roles as part of his political background.

Lalong previously served as a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly and later became Speaker, a position he held for several years. He also chaired the Nigeria Speakers Forum during his tenure. He was elected Governor of Plateau State, serving two terms, and later held national roles, including Director-General of a presidential campaign organisation and Minister of Labour and Employment.

Currently representing Plateau South in the Senate, Lalong is seeking re-election as part of the next general election cycle. Supporters say his previous roles reflect a career in public service across different levels of government. However, his candidacy will be subject to the electoral process and party primaries ahead of the elections. No official statement has been issued by Lalong at the time of filing this report.
