Governor Simon Lalong has visited Yelwa Zangam, a community in Jos North LGA of the State which was attacked last Tuesday night to assess the extent of damage and how the people are coping in the aftermath of the attack that left over 35 persons dead.
Ateker Pada Bitrus who lost 19 members of his immediate family and spoke on behalf of the survivors appealed to the Governor to urgently address the humanitarian crisis in the community following the destruction of their grains and farm crops.
He also appealed to Governor Simon Lalong to build a police station to assist them in times of crises and during distress.
In a related development, the Paramount leader of Anaguta, His Royal Highness Johnson. Juro who also spoke at the occasion described Governor Simon Lalong as a lover of the people of Anaguta .
He said “I am the chief mourner and nobody can mourn the lives and property lost more than me. I am not blaming Governor Lalong for the misfortune that befell us. Let the hate on social media stop. Lalong has always stood for us and the people of Plateau at all times”.
He called on the people to “continue to support Governor Lalong to tackle the insecurity bedeviling the state”.
Lalong, who led a delegation of traditional rulers and other stakeholders as well as security operatives during the assessment visit said he will always stand by his people at all times.
He also consoled the Anaguta nation and sued for restraint as he expressed concern over those he described as using the deaths of the over 35 persons in the community to score political points.
The Governor announced that the Federal and State government will mobilize relief materials that will be distributed with effect from Monday, August 30, to the affected community as he also expect more deployments of security personnel to the area by the Federal Government.
