Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi, has appointed Coach Abubakar Bala as its new Technical Adviser in a bid to reposition the team and return it to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Makurdi, which was attended by members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and board members of the club, Lobi Stars Chairman and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Youths and Creativity, Dr. Phillip Nongo, condemned acts of sabotage allegedly targeted at tarnishing the club’s image last season.
Dr. Nongo assured that the club’s leadership had learned lessons from the team’s relegation and was committed to ushering in a new era of growth and success. He disclosed plans to overhaul the technical crew, recruit young indigenous talents, restructure salaries, and improve welfare packages, including match bonuses and feeding allowances.
In his remarks, Coach Bala pledged to build a competitive team with player selection based solely on merit and quality, assuring fans that his leadership would deliver positive results.
