Maikaya Intensifies 2027 Governorship Consultations, Meets Former Speaker Balarabe for Strategic Alliance

By Abel Zwanke, Lafia

Frontline 2027 governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Musa Muhammed Maikaya (Chiroman Toto), has intensified his consultation efforts ahead of the next election cycle. On Monday, he met with the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi (Walin Opanda), at his Abuja residence to strengthen political alliances and deepen grassroots engagement.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the meeting, Maikaya said his ongoing outreach is aimed at building a broad-based coalition committed to peace, development, and inclusive governance.“We are engaging leaders across the state because the future of Nasarawa requires collective effort,” he stated. “Our commitment is to unity, tolerance, and a development-driven leadership that places the people first. This aligns with my philosophy of *‘Fresh Vision, Real Impact’*—a commitment to translating ideas into tangible results.”

Maikaya emphasized that as the nation transitions toward issue-based politics, political actors must prioritize poverty reduction, job creation, security, and improved living standards.“This is a critical moment for us as a state,” he added. “Our people want leadership that listens and leadership that delivers.”In his remarks, the former Speaker commended Maikaya for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity and respect for the principles of consultation.“I appreciate this engagement,” Balarabe said. “Politics should be about cooperation and service. When leaders interact in this manner, it strengthens peace and enriches our democracy.”He urged political actors across the divide to embrace unity and work collectively for the progress of Nasarawa State, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of stability and mutual respect.“We need more of these conversations. Leaders must continue to build bridges for the good of our communities,” he added.

Political observers note that Maikaya’s meeting with Balarabe further consolidates his growing influence within the APC as he intensifies engagement with critical stakeholders across the state. With the 2027 elections approaching, his consultations are seen as part of a deliberate strategy to strengthen political synergy and keep development-focused governance at the forefront of Nasarawa’s evolving political discourse.
