The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended and placed under protective custody one Kolawole Akinsanya for his alleged involvement in the fatal beating of his neighbor, Lukmon Ajibola, at Ilepa in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday, February 5, around 8 pm.

A resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that a goat belonging to the deceased wandered into Akinsanya’s compound and consumed his dried yam, leading to Akinsanya’s anger and the alleged killing of the animal.

Subsequently, Ajibola confronted Akinsanya over the incident, resulting in an altercation. Allegedly, Akinsanya then called upon some individuals who assaulted Ajibola.

Ajibola lost consciousness due to the attack and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The grieving family of the deceased mourns the loss, while the suspect, Akinsanya, has been arrested by the police. However, three other accomplices are reported to have fled the community.

A relative of the deceased expressed concern about potential police cover-up in the case, highlighting efforts by Akinsanya’s associates to secure his release and evade further arrests.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, assured ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The tragic incident has left Ajibola’s widow and children bereft, with the family seeking justice for their loved one.
