Maulud 2024: Church Leaders Join Thousands to Mark Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birth in Kaduna

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

In a show of interfaith solidarity, Pastor (Dr.) Yohanna Buru, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, along with elders from his church, joined thousands of Muslims in celebrating Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Pastor Buru extended his congratulations to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad II, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Sheikh Ibrahim Yakubu El-Zakzaky, and other notable Islamic leaders across Africa.

Speaking at the event, Pastor Buru highlighted the significance of interfaith dialogue, emphasizing the importance of Christians and Muslims coming together to promote peace and unity. “Maulud provides a golden opportunity for Christians and Muslims to interact, exchange goodwill messages, and foster peaceful coexistence,” he remarked.

Buru has made it a tradition to attend Maulud celebrations with his church members, reinforcing the bond between the two religious communities. He noted that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is for all mankind, irrespective of tribe, culture, or religion, urging both Christians and Muslims to live in harmony and promote peace.

The pastor also expressed his gratitude for the peaceful collaboration between the two faiths, recalling how Muslims in Kaduna have joined his church to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in past years. “We are one family under God and must always strive for unity and peace,” he added.

Islamic scholars present at the celebration, including Sheikh Iliyasu Husaine and Sheikh Aliyu Turmizi, echoed Pastor Buru’s sentiments, commending the church leaders for their participation. They stressed the need for continued peace, love, and tolerance between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria.

Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim, Sarkin Gabas of Tudun Wada, Kaduna, also expressed joy over the large turnout of participants from all 23 local governments of Kaduna State, highlighting the significance of the Maulud celebration in fostering interfaith harmony.

The gathering, which saw thousands of Muslims and Christians united at the Kaduna stadium, underscored the shared commitment to promoting peace and religious tolerance in the region. Both religious leaders called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity, and stability across the country.
