mutfwang’s Envoy Seeks Bank Partnership

 Special Envoy on Peace and Security to Governor Caleb Mutfwang ,the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Professor Chris Kwaja, has urged the banking sector to join forces with the Time is Now  administration to tackle insecurity in the state. 

Our Correspondent reports that Kwaja made the call yesterday  during a visit to the Controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Jos branch Mr Nurudeen Bashir Abuhuraira, and his team, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve total peace in Plateau State.

Prof. Kwaja stressed that peace and security shouldn’t be left to the state government alone, highlighting the critical role of the banking sector as stakeholders, especially the CBN as the highs body that oversees and regulates commercial Banks hello there financial institutions in Nigeria 

He commended the CBN Jos branch leadership under N.B Abuhuraira, for their initiative in designing the Popular CBN roundabout and urged them to leverage its position to rally all banks to support peace and security efforts in the state.

Prof. Kwaja emphasized that banks operating in Plateau State should demonstrate their vested interest in promoting peace and stability, given their business interests and profits in the state, which cannot be achieved without peace.

He disclosed that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has taken proactive measures to address the lingering security challenges in the state, which are already yielding positive results. 

Prof. Kwaja emphasized that the Governor should not be left alone in this effort and that the banking sector’s support is crucial to sustaining and building on these gains.

Additionally, Professor Kwaja further asserted, that while states like Lagos have greatly benefited from banks’ corporate social responsibility initiatives, Plateau and other states should equally be given similar attention, considering that these banks generate profits from operations across all the states.

While responding, the Jos Central Bank Nigeria branch controller, Mr Nurudeen Bashir Abuhuraira, appreciated Professor Chris Kwaja and his team for their visit, commending the Plateau State Governor for his unwavering commitment to peace and security, as well as infrastructural development across the state. 

The controller highlighted CBN’s significant contributions to developmental projects in Plateau State, prioritizing areas like agriculture, health, and education, and noting that “without peace, no economy thrives.”

The CBN assured Professor Kwaja of their maximum cooperation with the state government in addressing peace and security on the Plateau, nothing, that there’s significant improvement in terms of peace and security in the state, while appreciating all Stakeholders in the peace and security sector.

The controller however expressed concern about the incident of recklessness within its office roundabout, emphasizing the CBN’s willingness to install speed bumps to reduce accidents if given permission by the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), to address the issue.

This partnership between the Plateau State government and the banking sector is expected to achieve several positive outcomes and by working together, they can develop effective strategies to tackle insecurity, promoting a safer environment for citizens and businesses.

This, in turn, can lead to economic growth, job creation, and improved living standards inline with the Time Is Now Administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

With peace and stability, businesses can thrive, and investments can be attracted, boosting economic development and opportunities for the state’s citizens
