Naira Marley Demands Public Apology from Iyabo Ojo, Threatens N500 Million Lawsuit

Nigerian singer and label owner, Naira Marley (Azeez Adeshina Fashola), has initiated legal action against actress Iyabo Ojo, demanding a public apology for alleged defamation. Naira Marley accuses Ojo of publishing false and malicious content on her Instagram page, damaging his reputation.

In the lawsuit, Naira Marley claims that Iyabo Ojo accused him, in a September 2023 Instagram post, of dealing with the late singer Mohbad, both spiritually and physically, and destroying Mohbad’s mental state. The singer’s lawyers demand a public apology to be published on Iyabo Ojo’s official Instagram account and in a National Daily within seven days of receiving the letter. Failure to comply could lead to legal proceedings, with Naira Marley seeking N500 million in damages.

This legal move comes after Naira Marley and his aide, Sam Larry, previously filed a lawsuit against the Magistrate and Police for their extended detention, seeking N20 million each in damages. Both were arrested in connection with the death of Mohbad but were released on bail after more than five weeks in custody.

Iyabo Ojo, who had been advocating for justice for Mohbad, earlier withdrew her support for Naira Marley. She accused the singer of lacing her children’s food with drugs during visits and claimed that he rejected one of her adopted sons when she sought to sign him under his label. The actress emphasized accountability for the actions against the late singer.
