The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Nasarawa North Senatorial District has passed a vote of confidence on Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and encouraged him to consider contesting for the Nasarawa North Senate seat in the 2027 elections.The position was announced in a communiqué issued after a meeting between CAN zonal leaders and the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yakubu Kwanta, held at Risengon Luxury Hotel.
Reading the communiqué, CAN Zonal Chairman Dr. Pastor Best Barau Nuhu said the association commended Governor Sule for what it described as inclusive governance and development projects across the senatorial district.
According to the statement, the Christian body resolved to endorse the governor for any leadership position he may choose to pursue after completing his tenure in 2027. The association also acknowledged several Christians from the zone who have been appointed into government positions, including Dr. Pastor Best Barau Nuhu as Provost of the College of Education, Akwanga, and Dr. Pastor Yusuf Alfa as Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board.
CAN further cited infrastructure projects in the area, including the Akwanga underpass and road projects linking Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon. Speaking at the meeting, Commissioner Yakubu Kwanta thanked CAN leaders for their support and said their message would be conveyed to the governor.More than 400 clergy from Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba local government areas reportedly attended the meeting.
