The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the arrest of a 44-year-old businessman, Augustine Justine Emeka, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. NDLEA operatives intercepted 12 consignments of cocaine, weighing 17.6 kilograms, belonging to a drug trafficking organization. Emeka, who claimed to deal in copper wire, was arrested upon his arrival from Douala, Cameroon. The preliminary interview revealed that the cocaine was intended for delivery to 12 different individuals in the country. In related operations, NDLEA apprehended a fleeing suspect, Onyejiuwa Ifeanyi, in Lagos, and arrested individuals involved in drug abuse in Katsina. The agency also seized large quantities of codeine cough syrup, tramadol, and other illicit substances in various locations across the country. Two ladies, Chiemenam Akusoba and Chidinma Ibenwa, were arrested in separate incidents, and several suspects were apprehended in Kaduna, Kogi, Borno, Ondo, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. The NDLEA continues its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
