Nigeria@65: Shendam Council Chairman Urges Youths to Embrace Technology, Innovation

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council in Plateau State, Hon. Kemi Nshe, has called on Nigerian youths to harness opportunities in science, technology, sports, and the arts as pathways to self-sustenance and national development. Nshe made the appeal on Tuesday in Shendam while addressing journalists after inspecting a parade and march-past by primary and secondary school students to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary at the Shendam Mini Stadium.

According to him, the anniversary was not only a time to celebrate national achievements but also an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and the progress made so far.“ As Chairman of Shendam Local Government, I’m proud to say that our council has made significant strides in promoting peace, unity, and development,” he said. “We’ve worked tirelessly to provide essential services, improve infrastructure, and enhance the lives of our citizens.”

He acknowledged existing challenges but emphasized the need for collective effort and determination to overcome them.“ I encourage citizens to support my administration’s efforts in promoting peace, security, and development. Let’s strive for a Shendam where everyone has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities,” Nshe added.

The event featured the presentation of trophies and cash prizes to outstanding schools and students, aimed at encouraging greater participation in future independence celebrations. Traditional rulers, rural dwellers, and other stakeholders witnessed the ceremony.
