Nigerian Soldiers Arrest Bandits’ Informants, Seize Illicit Goods in Kaduna

By Milcah Tanimu

Troops in Kaduna have apprehended two suspected informants for bandits and seized cartons of cigarettes, Indian hemp, and cough syrups from them in Kagarko town.

A local community leader confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were intercepted near an army checkpoint on Thursday while riding a motorcycle. A vigilant community member had observed the suspects purchasing the illicit items at Kagarko market and promptly alerted soldiers, who then stopped them at the checkpoint.

The suspects are believed to have been running errands for bandits operating in the Kagarko forest and nearby Kachia communities. The community leader mentioned that the troops had been monitoring the suspects for some time before finally apprehending them based on intelligence reports.

The suspects’ motorcycles have been confiscated, and they were taken away in a patrol van. The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Hassan Mansur, has yet to confirm the incident at the time of this report.

Previously, on July 14, 2024, troops killed a suspected bandits’ informant and arrested another during a raid in Wolijo and Maraba communities in Kachia LGA.
