Participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Jos, have pledged to partner with the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) to advance Nigeria’s tourism sector.
The commitment was made during a strategic visit by the participants to the NTDA headquarters in Abuja.
Director-General of NTDA, Olayiwola Awakan, while receiving the delegation, said the engagement was key to unlocking the vast potential within the tourism sector through stakeholder collaboration.
He delivered a presentation titled “Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria: The NTDA Perspective,” where he highlighted tourism as a major driver of innovation, job creation, cultural promotion, and economic diversification.
Leader of the delegation, Musa Emmanuel Umar, commended Awakan’s leadership, describing NTDA as a critical player in the industry.
“You are not just a political appointee but a practitioner in your own right. We consider NTDA a critical actor in this industry,” he said.
Umar also reaffirmed NIPSS’ readiness to collaborate with NTDA in addressing sectoral challenges and developing actionable policy recommendations to position Nigeria competitively in the global tourism market.
The two organizations organizations agreed on the need for stronger synergy between policy institutions and implementing agencies, pledging sustained collaboration to drive sustainable tourism development in the country.
