No crime allegiance between miners and bandits in Zamfara–Emir

From Abba Kabara, Gusau.

Zamfara state first class emir and chairman council of chiefs Alhaji attahiru Ahmad Anka told the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Major General Lucky Irabo that there was never any existing crime relationship between the artisanal miners and the bandits in the state.

The Chief monarch made this remark at the government house today when the military chief leads the army, air and naval chief of staffs on a courtesy call on Zamfara state governor Hon. Bello Matawalle.

He said there are number of instances when bandits organised and launched attacks on miners at the mining sites and often taking hundreds of them as hostages.

The Monarch observes that if the two were comrades in crimes such attacks on the miners would not have occurred as often as it was.

He also faults the federal governments No-flights-zone policy on Zamfara which he said the flights across the space of the state has nothing to do with mining activities in the state and has therefore no connection with the issue of insecurity in the state.

He expresses the belief that bandits activities seem to persist simply because there inadequate number of security personals to combat the menace, appealing to the federal government to deploy more troops with modern war equipments for better results.
