The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has praised Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication, describing them as the backbone of national development.
In a May Day message, Issa-Onilu noted that their sacrifices of Nigerian workers as they continue to sustain the economy despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
He said that the May Day celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on the dignity of labour and the critical role workers play in nation-building.
According to him, Nigeria is at a crucial stage in its development journey, requiring increased productivity, discipline, and renewed commitment to excellence from citizens to achieve sustainable prosperity.
The NOA boss urged workers across the public and private sectors to uphold values of hard work, integrity, and professionalism, stressing that such principles are essential for both individual success and national advancement.
Issa-Onilu also called on Nigerians to reject indolence, corruption, and inefficiency, which he said continue to slow development across key sectors.
He expressed optimism about the country’s future, adding that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is aimed at improving citizens’ welfare, strengthening institutions, and creating a more productive environment.
The NOA DG further encouraged Nigerians to remain patriotic and committed to building a nation where labour is respected, opportunities are expanded, and prosperity is shared.
