The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) will hold a strategic meeting in Kaduna on Monday, December 1, 2025, to address prevailing security challenges affecting Northern Nigeria. The meeting, which is a key part of the Forum’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional stability, is expected to draw governors, traditional rulers, security experts and other stakeholders.
The session will be chaired by the Governor of Gombe State and NSGF Chairman, Mal. Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State will serve as host, according to a statement issued on Monday evening by his media aide, Ibraheem Musa.According to the statement, the high-level gathering aims to conduct a comprehensive review of the region’s security landscape. The governors are expected to evaluate recent incidents, identify gaps in current approaches and explore sustainable solutions to insecurity across the North.
The Forum will also deliberate on strategies to strengthen collaboration between states, security agencies and community stakeholders. Participants are expected to share insights on combating banditry, kidnapping, farmer-herder conflicts, and other persistent threats.Beyond security, the meeting will address broader concerns affecting development and governance in the region. These include economic growth, education, infrastructure development and social welfare.The statement noted that the meeting will take place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, where the governors will outline actionable steps to enhance peace and stability. The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape policy directions and regional cooperation as Northern leaders seek coordinated solutions to long-standing challenges.
