Northern Governors Mourn Victims of Niger Tanker Explosion

The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the fuel tanker explosion that claimed several lives in Essa community, Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.

NSGF Chairman and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the tragedy as “distressing and painful,” extending condolences to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, the bereaved families, and the people of Niger State.

Yahaya warned against the dangers of scooping fuel at accident scenes and called for stricter safety standards in the transportation of combustible materials. He emphasized the need for collaboration among government agencies and the public to prevent such avoidable disasters.

The governor also commended emergency responders and volunteers for their swift action, which helped reduce casualties, and prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls and quick recovery of the injured.
