Northern Senators’ Forum Urges Government Action Against Kidnappings and Insecurity

Must read

The Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF) has urged the Federal Government to take decisive steps to address the surge in kidnappings across the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the forum’s chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, emphasized the need for urgent action to improve security and ensure the perpetrators of these crimes face justice.

Yar’Adua, who recently assumed the role of NSF chairman, expressed deep concern about the increasing incidents of kidnappings in the North. He cited recent events such as the abduction of over 280 students in Kaduna schools and the kidnapping of more than 100 female internally displaced persons in Borno State.

The senator highlighted several incidents in Kaduna State, including the abduction of students and staff on March 7, an attack on a mosque on March 8, and subsequent abductions on March 12, 17, and 18.

As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Yar’Adua affirmed the forum’s commitment to finding lasting solutions to insecurity. He reiterated their determination to work tirelessly until security is significantly improved across the nation.

“We will continue to pursue effective measures to tackle insecurity for the greater good of our people and our nation,” Yar’Adua stated.
