NSCDC and Nigerian Correctional Service Staff Protest Over Delayed Promotions, Unpaid Arrears

Aggrieved staff of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service are protesting delays in salary and promotion arrears. The personnel raised concerns over unequal treatment compared to other paramilitary agencies, like the Immigration and Fire Services, which have processed promotions and payments promptly.

Some officers, promoted as far back as 2021, have not received their due arrears. One officer described the issue as “social injustice,” calling on the Minister of Interior to investigate and hold top officials accountable. They also criticized the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) for its role in the delayed payments.
