The Nasarawa State chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ condemns the attack and brutal killing of its former Treasurer, Benjamin Ekom of Federated Chapel by unknown gunmen on Monday night July 3, 2020 at his residence in Washo village, Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This was contained in a press release jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the union saliyu Muhammed Alkali and Sunday john.
The Union however, describes the attack on innocent residents of the state by criminal elements as one too many, seek for drastic and proactive measures to be taken to ensure the lives and property in all nocks and crannies of the state is protected.
The leadership of the union also call on security agencies to fish out the killers of the former Treasurer of the union to face the law and calling on members of the public to expose criminal elements in their midst to curtail crime in the state.
The union further commends the efforts of the federal and state governments towards tackling insecurity, however, wants them to do more to restore confidence in them and to ensure that the citizens are well protected.
The entire journalists in the state also, condole with the family and friends of the deceased and pray God to forgive his shortcomings and grand him eternal rest.
