Obaseki visits Wike in PH

By Daniel Abia
P/Harcourt

The embattled governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki on Sunday paid an unscheduled visit to his counterpart, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.

Obaseki who arrived the Government House, Port Harcourt at about 1pm immediately went into a closed door meeting with his host even as journalists were barred from attending giving coverage to the meeting.

The Edo Governor’s unannounced visit may not be unconnected with his rumored intention to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC and pitch tent with the main opposition party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP where he hopes to seek re- election as governor.

Though details of the visit could not immediately known, but feelers have it that the closeness of the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike with the national chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus might have prompted such meeting.

A source hinted that Obaseki was in Rivers state to solicit the support of Governor Wike in view of his importance to the PDP.

Obaseki who was disqualified by the Professor Jonathan Ayuba led national working committee of the APC on grounds of irregularities in his academic qualifications is most likely to seek a reelection on the platform of the PDP to spite his estranged political godfather and the national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
