Oborevwori Inspects Ugbolu–Okpanam, Oko Road Projects, Demands Quality and Timely Completion

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality infrastructure and timely delivery during inspection visits to the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road and Phase 2 of the Oko-Anala–Oko-Ogbele–Oko-Odifili Road projects.Inspecting the 12.12-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Road, the governor said he chose to assess progress firsthand rather than rely solely on technical reports. He noted that although the project has an 18-month timeline, the contractor has indicated it could be completed by December.Oborevwori explained that the road includes extensive drainage systems designed to address longstanding flooding in the area.

According to him, Okpanam’s higher elevation has historically caused runoff into surrounding communities, necessitating reinforced drainage channels to redirect water safely. He described the road as strategically important for linking communities and boosting economic activities, adding that his administration is prioritising balanced development across urban and rural areas.

At the Phase 2 site of the Oko-Anala–Oko-Ogbele–Oko-Odifili Road, the governor said challenging soil conditions required excavation and stabilisation to ensure durability. He rejected the contractor’s projected completion date of August 2027, urging faster delivery.Oborevwori assured residents that funds have been mobilised and directed the contractor to accelerate work, stressing that projects must meet quality standards and agreed timelines.
