Ododo Praises Tinubu’s Public Finance Reforms as Ibori Commissions Kogi Audit House

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and a strong commitment to strengthening governance through far-reaching public finance reforms.

Governor Ododo gave the commendation in Lokoja during the official commissioning of the Kogi State Audit House, saying the ongoing national reforms in public finance management, institutional accountability and economic restructuring have created an enabling environment for states to implement projects that enhance transparency and service delivery.

He said his administration remains fully aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed appreciation for the support extended to sub-national governments.

The governor also lauded the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, for his contributions to governance and national development, describing them as a source of inspiration.

“I am deeply grateful for your solidarity with the Government and people of Kogi State on this historic occasion,” Ododo said, while welcoming visiting Auditors-General from across the federation, party leaders, civil society organisations, development partners and other guests.

According to him, the Audit House should serve not only as an administrative facility but also as a symbol of the state’s resolve to uphold integrity, professionalism and transparency in the management of public resources.

He added that the edifice should inspire other states to invest in strong institutional frameworks that promote effective oversight and responsible governance, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting public interest, strengthening institutions and promoting inclusive development.

In his remarks while commissioning the facility, Chief Ibori commended Governor Ododo for prioritising accountability and transparency through institutional support, urging the people of Kogi State to continue to support the administration’s programmes and vision for sustained development.

Earlier, the Auditor-General of Local Government, Alhaji Yakubu Adabenege, described the commissioning of the Audit House as a dream come true and pledged the commitment of his office to supporting the governor’s development agenda.

“From this Audit House, we promise to put our body and soul into supporting your administration to achieve its set goals,” he said.
