The 5th edition of the Ofada Rice Day Festival, themed ‘Ofadabration,’ is set to take place, aiming to celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and promote the consumption of locally grown, healthful meals. The event, scheduled for a Sunday, is designed as a family fun-fair outing, allowing attendees to enjoy various food options from vendors and watch live performances by renowned artists, including juju maestro Sir Shina Peters and Reminisce.
Organized by Ofadaboy, the festival aims to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, support local farmers, and boost the agricultural sector. The event also seeks to promote agro-tourism by attracting tourists interested in experiencing Nigeria’s unique culinary traditions. The partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Lagos State, underscores the festival’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
The Ofada Rice Day Festival, an initiative with a focus on food security, good health, and agricultural prosperity, has become a significant event in Lagos, attracting thousands of participants and generating buzz across social and traditional media. The festival celebrates Ofada rice, making it accessible to a broader audience and creating a day of celebration known as World Ofada Rice Day.
Oluwatobi Fletcher, the organizer, emphasized the initiative’s goal to glamorize African cuisine, bringing its unique taste, style, and presentation to life. With an estimated guest size of over 6,000 participants, the 5th edition promises to be bigger and grander than previous editions, further solidifying its place in the Lagos social calendar.
