Ogun Pastor Arrested for Abduction and Fake Prophecies

By Milcah Tanimu

A pastor identified as Sunday from a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the Agbado area of Ogun State has been arrested on charges of making fake prophecies and the abduction of a 21-year-old lady named Aliu Blessing.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the victim had visited the church to care for her ailing sister when the pastor allegedly prophesied that she would die on her wedding day unless she engaged in sexual intercourse with him. The pastor was also said to have claimed that any man attempting to have a sexual relationship with a lady other than himself would also meet a dire fate.

In the wake of these alleged deceptions and prophecies, the pastor is reported to have abducted the lady on February 2, 2023, taking her to an undisclosed location, causing anguish and turmoil within the family.

After more than seven months of alleged abduction, the victim returned home on November 5, 2023, and narrated how Sunday had taken her to his family house in Ilaro and then to a hotel, where he allegedly engaged in multiple and non-consensual sexual encounters with her.

The police spokesperson revealed that the victim has been taken to the hospital due to signs of a mental disorder.

The suspect has been arrested and has reportedly confessed to the crimes during questioning. He is currently in police custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded. The victim’s psychological or psychiatric condition is being assessed in the hospital.
