General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso inaugurated the competition, highlighting its significance in the army’s annual training regimen. The event aims to enhance leadership skills, physical fitness, and combat readiness among junior commanders. The officers will engage in various activities, including weapon handling, combat swimming, range classification, map orientation, and physical challenges.

Saraso emphasized that the competition is designed to improve participants’ leadership abilities and prepare them for higher responsibilities. He stated, “The benefits of this competition are immense, providing opportunities for participants to demonstrate their leadership and organizational skills.”

Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Kana, Commander of the Garrison 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, added that the competition not only tests combat skills but also celebrates commitment to discipline and unity. He encouraged participants to view themselves as winners regardless of the competition’s outcome, stressing the importance of teamwork and dedication.

The GOC commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for his support in organizing the event and underscored the army’s commitment to fostering leadership qualities and physical fitness among its personnel.
