Over 200 Students March to Government House in Commemoration of IDGC

As the activities commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child 2024 enter their second day, Hajia Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, the wife of the governor, received over 200 students who marched from the Women’s Center for Continuous Education to the Government House in Sokoto.

She was represented at the event by Hadiza Ahmed Shagari, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The occasion featured various guests delivering goodwill messages, emphasizing the importance of empowering girls in Sokoto State. This initiative aligns with the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, which aims to promote girls’ rights and address the challenges they face worldwide.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration has demonstrated its commitment to education and women’s empowerment through collaborations with organizations like UNICEF. The Sokoto State Government focuses on creating a brighter future for girls and women through programs like Agile.

By celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child, Sokoto State reaffirms its dedication to enhancing education, health, and economic opportunities for girls and women.
