The PDP in Akwa Ibom has called on the APC in the area to cease the war game between the two main parties and partner with the state government in the development of the state.
It has also described the victory of Governor Udom Emmanuel on the judgement of the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar on the Appeal filed against the verdict of the Governorship election petition tribunal by the APC candidate Obong Nsima Ekere as divine.
A statement in Uyo by Barr Ini Ememobong, State Publicity Secretary of the party called on the opposition to avoid further bickering between the two parties but rather view the Akwa Ibom project as the cynosure and act in the benefit of the larger interest of the people.
“To the opposition APC, we renew our call for partnership in the execution of the Akwa Ibom Project through the vehicle of the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“We acknowledge the zeal and emotional investments committed to the Governorship quest by Obong Nsima Ekere, an illustrious Akwa Ibom son, who rose to the exalted office of Deputy Governor through the instrumentality of our party. He has fought the fight, ran the race, but the results are not in his favour.” The statement said.
The party said that the judgement also aligned with reality by confirming the sanctity of the ballot.
“In the well-considered judgement, the noble Lords of the penultimate court, held the Appeal was lacking in merit, agreeing with the tribunal that the APC did not lead credible evidence to prove their case and that they had dumped documents in the panel without linking them, as required by law.
“By this judgment, the judiciary has again shown that justice is directed by law and not federal might, partisan colouration or other extra-legal dispositions. To this, we are deeply grateful to the court and wholeheartedly welcome the judgement.” It further stated.
The party commended its legal team for the diligent and excellent representation and appreciated their supporters and Akwa Ibom people for standing with them.
“It is our promise that we will continue to deliver democracy dividends and lead our state steadily on the journey to the land of fulfilment.
“God Almighty deserves all our praise for his grace and protection throughout the election period. He ensured that His will prevailed over the power of men. To him alone be all glory and praise.” It concluded.
