Plan International Visits Logo IDP Camps for Needs Assessment

The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, Mr James Iorpuu has led the Representatives of Plan International to Logo Local Government’s Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, Camps at Ugba and Anyiin for Needs Assessment.

Addressing the IDPS separately during the tour, the BSEMA Boss, Mr James Iorpuu lauded them for keeping faith with the Governor Hyacinth Alia’s led administration, assuring that more humanitarian services would be extended to them.

Mr Iorpuu who was represented by the Program Manager IDPS Operations, Mr James Iorhuna, assured the people of the Governor’s untiring efforts towards ensuring that peace reigns in the state. He reiterated the present government’s commitment towards resettling them back to their ancestral homes.

In his remarks, the team leader of Plan International, Mr Avindigh Alagh, disclosed that their visit was for needs assessment regarding humanitarian situation in the state to possibly propose an intervention in core thematic areas of protection such as Child Protection, Gender Based Violence, Education, Nutrition and livelihood.

Some of the IDPs who spoke during the event identified lack shelter, food among others as the major challenges bedeviling them, even as they appealed to government to ensure their quick return to their villages.
