Plateau Women Doctors Offer Free Medical Care in Attacked Community

Members of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Plateau State, Branch in collaboration with the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) on Friday conducted a free medical outreach to the People of Kimakpa village in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of the state .

Our correspondent reports that the initiative specifically targeted vulnerable individuals who were victims of the recent violent attacks in the community.

It could be recalled that gunmen had attacked the community about a month ago killing several persons and leaving so many others injured.

The outreach began with a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Bassa LGA, Hon. (Dr) Joshua Sunday Riti, who warmly received the team.

Speaking at the rural community ,Dr Nana Emeribe the State President, MWAN Plateau State Branch commiserated with the members of the community .

She also lamented the attacks on innocent members of the community.

In her words ” We are gathered in our numbers to provide specialist care and service to victims of the attack “.

” So far we have attended to over 182 adult patients as well as dewormed over 120 children between the ages of 1 and 10.”

She also added that “We have also distributed more than 200 sanitary pads to young girls and women of reproductive age. “

” I can tell you that we have provided medications for a wide range of medical conditions to the people of the affected community as well as distribute various welfare items including food and clothings to them. “

“We express our profound gratitude to everyone who supported this outreach both through their generous contributions and physical presence.”

She called for improved health facilities in rural communities of the state and called on government at all levels to do everything possible to end the senseless attacks on rural communities.

Also speaking at the occasion,Dr Lydia Ior, the Chairperson of Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) said she is excited about the collaboration with the female Doctors because it has given them an edge to make more impact.

She also commiserated with the people of Kimakpa and prayed for lasting peace in the state.
