Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a spiritualist, a notorious auto thief, and at least five suspected kidnappers. The police also recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux truck during the operation.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Mansir Hassan provided details about the arrests. The operation took place in Kundun Village, where suspects Umar Haruna, Shuaibu Umar, and Hairatu Muntari (also known as Talatu) were apprehended.
Kidnapping and Ransom Investigation
According to Hassan, Haruna and the suspected gang leader—still at large—were the primary targets of the operation. Investigations revealed that the kidnappers had used ransom money to purchase bags of corn, which were later seized as evidence.
Hassan also shared that a resident of Agaji village reported his 3-year-old daughter missing on October 31. The following day, an anonymous caller demanded N2 million as ransom for the child’s return. After the ransom was paid, the child was released.
Tracking and Arrest of Kidnapper
Detectives from the Saminaka Division launched an investigation immediately. Through diligent tracking and intelligence gathering, they arrested Isa Sa’adu, a resident of Agaji village, on November 8. During questioning, Sa’adu confessed to the kidnapping. Police recovered several items from him, including a Gionee phone, N400,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a bicycle, and a bag of rice.
