Benue State Police Command, says it has clamped down on bandits who have been terrorizing some communities in the Sankera axis of the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, SP Sewuese Anene, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Hassan Steve Yabanet, stressed that the bandits have been neutralized, particularly in communities where attacks are threatened.
According to the statement, the Operation Zenda Joint Task Force, JTF, teams had engaged bandits in Mbafyan, Mbachir Ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and Tse Shenge in Ukum Local Government Area in a gun duel where three suspected bandits were neutralized, while others sustained injuries and escaped into nearby communities.
Items recovered from them include; one (1) Toyota Corolla, one Hummer Bus, one tricycle, twelve motorcycles and three short guns.
The Commissioner of Police CP Hassan Steve Yabanet, assured the people of Sankera of his commitment to fighting banditry in the area. He Implored them to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agents in their communities.
CP Yabanet, lauded the Police Officers who have been on frontline fighting against bandits and encouraged them to remain steadfast and cooperate with the people of the area for useful information.
“The CP assures the good people of Sankera of his commitment to fighting banditry in the area. He advised them to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agents in their communities as bandits running away security agents may be violent against vulnerable people,” the statement added.
