Police Confirm Killing of Two During Armed Robbery Attack in Kogi Community

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two persons during an armed robbery incident in Ibado-Akpacha community, Akpacha Ward, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP William Ovye Aya, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, describing the attack as a case of armed robbery and homicide.

According to Aya, the assailants invaded the community, robbed a residence, and shot two occupants. “The hoodlums invaded, robbed a house, and shot two persons. When the victims were rushed to the hospital, the doctor confirmed them dead,” he stated.

He further explained that the attackers proceeded to another house where they robbed an individual of an undisclosed amount of money before storming the shop of a businessman identified as Abubakar Yusuf.

Aya said the gang carted away 20 Android phones and 200 button phones from Yusuf’s shop, adding that one person managed to escape the scene with bullet wounds.

The police spokesperson assured that an investigation team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation), has been deployed to track down the perpetrators.

“The Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the matter, and some members of the public are collaborating with us by providing useful information to aid the arrest of the suspects,” Aya added.

He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities that could help ensure the community’s safety.
