Political Thuggery: Group Tackle Security Agencies To Enforce Peaceful Campaign Rallies

Movement for the protection of democracy and good governance (MDG) has called on the security agencies to ensure that all campaign rallies is hitch-free for the success of the 2023 general elections.

This was contained in a press statement signed and issued to our correspondent by the group’s secretary-general Alhaji Abdullahi Umar on Teusday at the end of an emergency meeting held, where the group condemn all aspects of attacks recorded during rallies by the opposition sides.

” We condemned all aspects of attacks, hate speeches during campaigns and in Media, as well as physical confrontation by opposition which is not a democracy, and we are calling on all  relevant security agencies to ensure that the 2023 general elections is held successfully and hitch-free”. The statement added.

Furthermore, MDG announced that the group is working seriously to commence a public enlightenment thened” The needs for peacefull campaigns for the success of 2023 general elections”, in which two committees would be constituted to tour states according to Nigeria’s Geo-Political Zones.

In conclusion, the group warned politicians to caution their followers against Thuggery  during campaigns and other political programmes that may became a threat to peace and unity in the present  democratic dispensation.
