Presidential Election Tribunal Dismisses EU Report on 2023 Elections Presented by Obi and LP

In a recent development, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has ruled against the acceptance of the European Union Election Observers Mission report concerning the presidential election held on February 25, 2023. This report was submitted by Peter Obi and the Labour Party.

The tribunal’s decision to reject the report was based on the fact that it was not presented by an official authorized by the European Union Election Observers Mission, the official body responsible for the report’s creation and custody.

Furthermore, the tribunal also declined to admit the 18,088 blurred result sheets submitted by the petitioners. The reason cited for this rejection was the absence of clear links between these result sheets and specific polling units, which the petitioners failed to specify in their petition.

Interestingly, it is worth noting that a genuine copy of the EU report had previously been tendered by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party during their presentation before the tribunal.
