Press Week: Bello Approves Purchase Of a Bus For Kogi NUJ, Applauds Citizenry Journalism

The Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Wednesday approved the purchase of a bus for the Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ).

Governor Yahaya Bello who gave the approval at the Grand finale of the NUJ Press Week/Book Launch held at Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja on Wednesday also approved fees for ten (10) journalists to study at the International Institute of Journalists.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo commended the Kogi State Journalists for their adequate supports especially during the turbulent periods in the lower tribunal even up to the Supreme Court.

He commended journalists for practicing citizenry journalism, that dwells their reportage on the development, security and the unity of the state.

Bello who congratulated the Union for another historical successful Press Week, commended the state chairman of NUJ , Alh. MomohJimoh, for making it a point of duty to fight for the welfare of journalists in the state and for also ensuring that journalism is not antagonism to the state government.

He pointed out that the present administration has done well by ensuring that Media Institutions in the state are in top notch, pointing out that Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation (KSBC) now has two transmitters that are of the best standard in the country.

The governor also added that a modern technology has been introduced to the Graphic Newspaper as the media house now has an e-graphic newspaper that now makes it easier for someone in Germany, USA and other countries in the Diaspora to gain direct and full access to Kogi community news.
