Professors, Directors Challenged To Complement Their Promotions

The Chief Medical Director, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto, Prof. Anas Ahmed Sabir has called on the newly promoted Professors and elevated Deputy Directors working with the Hospital to see their promotion as an encouragement towards providing efficient, effective, affordable and accessible healthcare services to the humanity.

This was contained in a release signed by the Hospital’s Principal Information Officer, Mansur Wadata.

The Chief Medical Director made the call when the Hospital Management hosted the newly 16 promoted Doctors to the ranks of Professor and Readers, as well as 14 elevated Deputy Directors to CONHESS 15 for a reception in their honor.

Professor Anas Ahmed Sabir, who is among the promoted Professors on behalf of the Board, Management, Staff and Students of the Teaching Hospital felicitated with the new Professors and Deputy Directors on their well deserved promotion.

He, therefore, urged them to see the promotion as an opportunity to put in more effort towards improving the health care delivery to humankind.

The Chief Medical Director reminded them that attainment of Professorship or CONHESS 15 is not the end of research training and clinical services, rather, a beginning of the new journey. He said patients and general public expect more from them in clinical services, research, training and community services.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee , Prof. Nasiru Muhammad and Director of Administration, Alh. Abbati Deno El-hamzat expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for making it possible for the Hospital to get this number of Professors and Readers. They also felicitated with the promoted staff and called on them to give the Hospital Management maximum support and cooperation towards achieving its set objectives.

While appreciating the Management for the honor, on behalf of the Professors and Deputy Directors, Professor Stanley Amuta Baba and Alh. Abdul Muhammad promised to continue working with the Management in its drive to provide sustainable, accessible and affordable health care services to its numerous clients.

It could be recalled that, the Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto at its regular Council Meeting, approved the elevation of sixty (60) of its academic staff to the ranks of Professors and Readers. out of this number, 16 are Honorary Consultants with the Hospital. Equally, at its 95th regular meeting, the Board of Management of the Hospital, graciously approved the elevation of 14 Deputy Directors of different specialties to CONHESS 15.

The promoted Professors are; Professor Anas Ahmed Sabir as Professor of Internal Medicine; Professor Nasiru Muhammad as Professor of Ophthalmology; Professor Karima Abubakar Tunau, as Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Professor Constance E. O. Shehu as Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Others are Professor Mohammed Abdullahi; Professor Daniel Jiya Aliyu and Professor Amutta Stanly Baba as Professors of Otorhinolaryngology as well as Professor Peter Stephen Agbo as Professor of Surgery.

Also, promoted by the University Governing Council include Professor Abdullahi Abdulwahab; Professor Taiwo Abdulrazak and Professor Ibitoye Paul Kehinde as Professors of Dental Surgery, Urology and Paediatrics respectively.

Dr Muhammad Yahaya, Dr. Yunusa Edzu Usman, Dr. Kabiru Abdullahi, Dr. Borodo Alhaji Tanko Ahmed and Dr. Muhammed Bashir Abdulrahman were promoted to the rank of Readers.

The Deputy Directors elevated to CONHESS 15 are; Alh. Abdul Mohammed; Alh. Sanusi Musa; Alh. Abdullahi M. Yabo; Alh. Umar Muhammed; Alh. Faruk M. Umar, Achegbulu Onche Philip, Nhinlola O. Jacob, Akpan Isidore Peter, Alh. Suleiman Isah, Adesoji Adeniji, Odah O. Daniel, Alh. Mohammed Bashir Hussaini. and Alh. Ahmed M. Ayu.
