Prosperity Cup 2026: Bayelsa United Feeders, Izuo Gillette Advance to Round of 32
Several teams have secured qualification for the round of 32 of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the prosperity Cup, as the competition intensifies across various centres.
Bayelsa United Feeders, Akenfa FC, Brazil FC, Izuo Gillette, and Akinima/Biogbo FC are among the latest sides to advance.
At the Kpansia centre, Bayelsa United Feeders edged out a resilient Donbai United 3-2 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. Goalkeeper Adamawa Oyintari was outstanding with crucial saves.
Sea Side FA delivered a dominant performance at the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School (BDGS) centre, thrashing United Stars FC 3-0 to book their ticket.
At the Igbogene centre, Akinima/Biogbo FC defeated Mighty-Mighty FC 1-0, thanks to Inesei Tariki’s 51st-minute strike. The winners displayed strong dominance throughout the encounter.
Izuo Gillette, at the Swali centre, overcame Hummels FC of Otuokpoti 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Brazil FC also progressed at the Obunagha centre, beating Citiboi FC Feeders 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Godspower John gave Citiboi the lead in the 21st minute, before Nkor Oliver equalised in the 75th minute.
In another thrilling tie at the Okordia centre, Akenfa FC came from behind to defeat Global City Football Academy 3-1. Franklin Woyinmie opened the scoring for Global City in the first minute, but Golden Bembo levelled for Akenfa in the 11th minute. William Robert then scored twice (43rd and 55th minutes) to seal victory.
Meanwhile, semi-final and final fixtures in the Ogbia LGA play-offs are scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Former champions Movers FC of Otuasega will face Kolo Creek United at the Imiringi centre by 3:00pm.
In Southern Ijaw LGA, matches at the BDGS centre will see Onyoma FC take on Onde United of Ondewari at 12:00pm, while NDU Oilers FC confront Eniwari FC at 3:00pm.
Sagbama LGA defending champions Agbere FC will host Kolobiriowei FC at the Ebedebiri centre by 3:00pm, as Agoro United welcome Akeddei FC at the Ogobiri centre at the same time.
The Prosperity Cup train is set to move to Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA (Kolga) this weekend, with LGA finals expected to commence next month.
