Recalled FCT Education Mandate Secretary, Dr.Danlami Hayyo, has vowed to ensure that the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike’s vision and objectives for education in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT are fully carried out.
Dr. Hayyo made this pledge on Monday when he resumed work after his recall by the FCT Minister.
He stated that he would strengthen those reforms that are in the pipeline of the education secretariat.
He thanked God and the FCT Minister for recalling him back to office, adding that it is a show of his vindication and his renewed call to service and loyalty to the leadership of Barr. Nyesom Wike and the FCT Administration.
Hayyo also thanked the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Secretariat, and the other members of the Administration for their concern to ensure his recall back to office.
“I thank God Almighty for His blessings and for vindicating me. I also sincerely thank the Honorable Minister of the FCT, who carefully reviewed the situation and reinstated me. My loyalty to the Honorable Minister is total and unshakeable,” Hayyo said.
Furthermore, the Education Mandate Secretary stated that the ongoing transformation agenda in the education sector would continue unhindered.
Speaking on the prevention of recurrence of what led to his temporary suspension, the Mandate Secretary disclosed plans for comprehensive refresher training programmes to clarify roles for staff, directors, and senior officials within the Secretariat.
The training would clarify roles, mandates, approval processes, and the limits of authority of each office, noting that no director is permitted to issue or circulate sensitive information without proper approval.
On the issue of school safety in the FCT, the Mandate Secretary assured parents, teachers, and the public that all FCT schools are safe and secure.
He explained that the mandate of security agencies such as the DSS, police, civil defense, and other national security bodies is to constantly monitor threats within the territory and directly brief the minister where necessary.
“There is no security threat in FCT schools. Security agencies are in constant communication with the minister. Our role is advisory, and parents should be assured that our schools are safe,” he assured.
