Red Line Rail: CSO Lauds Sanwo-Olu

The Convener of Campaign for Dignity in Governance, Razaq Olokoba applauded Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for actualizing the Red Line train service, describing the infrastructural milestone as a major economic boost in the state.
Olokoba remarked in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, noting that the train service connecting Agbado to Lagos Mainland, would boost economic activities in the area and other places on the corridor.
While praising the Governor for yet another monumental achievement in developing Nigeria’s commercial capital, He disclosed that the capacity of Sanwo-Olu to deliver good governance has never been in doubt, hence the reason several civil society groups are solidly behind him.
“We knew this day would, we didn’t have any iota of doubt about it.
“Kudos to Gov. Sanwo-Olu because he did not stop what his predecessors had done before he came
“The Red Line passenger train service would bring a new level of development to the state in general, it will boost the economy.
“Mass transit is the way to go. Our roads are heavily tasked. Our roads are heavily used. So, in Lagos State, we need interconnectivity.
“The train service, starting from Agbado to Oyingbo, is the answer to the perennial traffic congestion on this corridor. If you look at our roads here, it is terrible because of heavy vehicular movements.
“Now, people from Agbado can go faster by train than those using the road, for those at Ojokoro, they can simply park their vehicles and travel by train to the Mainland and Island,” Olokoba stated.
Meanwhile, following the Lagos Red Line Rail commencement of full commercial operation on Tuesday, Gov. Sanwo-Olu warned against vandalism, lamenting that he did not know why anyone would want to remove useful materials on the train.
Speaking on the commencement of the train operation earlier, Sanwo-Olu, in a statement, said, “We’re on a mission to keep Lagos moving, and the Red Line is a key part of our vision to create a seamlessly connected city. It is also our second rail system to become operational in less than two years.”
Spanning 27 kilometers, the Red Line has eight stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju, and Agbado.
The train service is projected to move about 500,000 Lagosians daily who would be making use Lagos Cowry Card for payment.
