Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, has made a substantial donation of ₦105 million to Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State. The generous contribution was made during a service on September 1, 2024, and aims to support various initiatives within the church.
Rema’s donation includes ₦40 million for church infrastructure, ₦25 million for the teen’s church infrastructure, ₦20 million for Rhapsody of Realities, and ₦20 million for widows in the church. The singer expressed his gratitude to the church for its support during a challenging period in his life, particularly after the death of his father.
In a heartfelt message, Rema recalled how the church had helped his family when they were struggling. “When I was eight years old, after my father’s passing, we felt very lost. Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas from this church opened a shop for my mother, which helped us greatly,” he shared.
The artist’s gesture was captured in a video that has quickly gone viral. Rema’s donation comes as part of his homecoming tour in Benin, where he is set to perform at a major concert. Last Tuesday, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena, named in his honor by Governor Godwin Obaseki, and also visited Oba Ewuare II at his palace.
