…3 Suspected persons under Police investigations

An unfortunate suspected bomb explosion, which occurred at Tsangavyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Buwari Area Council, has killed one and injured three others.
The explosion occurred on Monday at an Islamiyya School in Kuchonuyo village, in Byazhin area of the FCT.
Chairman, Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya who confirmed the incident said that on Monday an explosion caused by an Improvised Explosion Devise, IED, occurred on Monday at an Islamiyya School in Chuchibiyu which claimed one live and injured four others.
According to Gabaya, he had visited the scene of the explosion, confirmed that one person died instantly, while three persons who sustained various degrees of injuries were moved to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the FCT Bomb Squad has confirmed that it was an IED explosion, as remnants of the device have been recovered.
According to the FCT Coomand Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, in a statement made available to news men in Abuja said that the Command receivied a distress call from the Sarki of Kuchibuyi, it mobilized a team of police operatives, including the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and the Area Commander of Kubwa, to the scene.
The area was immediately cordoned off to protect residents and facilitate a thorough investigation.
The owner of the school, Mallam Adamu Ashimu, has been taken into custody for questioning, and further findings which will be communicated in due course.
According to the FCT Police Command , Preliminary investigations revealed that three men from Katsina had visited the owner of the Islamic school, Mallam Adamu Ashimu.
“The three visitors are suspected of having brought the explosive device with them. Tragically, two of the men died in the explosion while tampering with the improvised explosive device (IED), on the school Veranda, while the third man and a female trader sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment under police guard.”
