In a momentous celebration of distinguished individuals in their profession, the University French Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (UFTAN) conferred an Honorary Fellowship upon Senator Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut and other esteemed professors over the weekend.

Daduut, a professor of French, previously represented the Plateau South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly.

Our correspondent reports that this prestigious recognition was presented during the 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of UFTAN, which took place in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

The National President of UFTAN, Prof. Mufutau Tijani, spoke at the occasion, stating that the award was in recognition of Daduut’s significant contributions to the development and growth of the organization and French studies in Nigeria.

He emphasized that Senator Daduut and the other recipients of the fellowship had distinguished themselves in their professions. Prof. Tijani explained that their recommendations were based on assessments conducted by the President and Executive of UFTAN after a rigorous evaluation process.

“Senator Nora Daduut’s remarkable journey in the teaching profession spans over four decades, and her unparalleled contributions to both the teaching profession and the public sector are top-notch,” he said.

After receiving the fellowship, Senator Daduut expressed her gratitude to UFTAN, describing the recognition as a pleasant surprise.

Currently the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Daduut remarked, “I was just doing my job as a teacher, not knowing that someone somewhere was taking note of my support.”

While thanking the organization for finding her worthy of the fellowship, she expressed her deep appreciation. “My prayer is that UFTAN will continue to grow stronger in all aspects,” she added.

Others who received fellowships include Prof. Doris Obieje, Prof. Austin Moye, Prof. Joseph Obinaju, and Prof. M. Iwuchukwu, among others, who have similarly demonstrated unwavering dedication to excellence in the French teaching profession.
